Fossil finding in michigan By:Brendan
What kind of fossils are commonly found in Michigan?
Some common Michigan fossils are crinoids, gastropods,
brachiopods, cephalopods, trilobites, and very primitive fishies. The crinoids
are actually echinoderms, and are related to the sea star. Brachiopods are just
sea shells. There used to be almost 30,000 kinds of brachiopods, but today there
are only about 200 left.
Igneous rocks are created from magma. When magma reaches the
Earth’s surface it cools and becomes Extrusive rock. Extrusive rock may have
cooled so fast that it has become a glassy substance, like Obsidian. Other
common volcanic rocks might be basalt, rhyolite, or pumice.
